Denis Thaxton
Denis Thaxton graduated from Florida State University and is the third generation of a family that has been in the insurance business in Tampa since 1961. He worked in Chicago with J.P. Flanagan, who was the largest producer of lawyers’ professional liability business in the Midwest and one of the largest brokers of this specialty in the United States. Vernon Barclay
Vern graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a business degree in 1971. He initially spent 5 years within the insurance company handling property and casualty claims. Subsequently, he began a 17 year period with law firms as an administrator, and ultimately managed an AM LAW top 20 firm in the United States.
Since 1995, his career has focused on law firms and risk management including professional liability insurance as an independent broker and co-founder of Thaxton Barclay Group.
Vern has published articles in the Massachusetts Bar, the Florida Bar, and the Association of Legal Administrators on law firm management, professional liability and still consults with law firms on a variety of issues. Additionally, he has lectured through the Institute of Continuing Legal Education at the University of Michigan. He is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. |
